Course: Afro-Christianity and The Black Church in America (AAS165)

This edited volume of readings that present the history of African American religious thought and practice, from traditional West African origins to some of the diversity of contemporary forms. I do supplement this volume with other readings, but it does provide a good general overview text, with writings taken from a wide variety of sources, including classic works of religion scholars as well as some taken from the primary historical figures being discussed. It is a good overview text.
